Bitter Creek Candle Supply
offers only Penreco brand candle gel. The original patented candle gel on the
market (U.S. Patent No. 5,879,694). Burns much longer than paraffin wax!
Low density gel is best for a plain, unscented or lightly scented gel candle
with no suspended embeds. You can make jars filled with wax embeds so long as
you do not try and suspend the items. Low Density Gel holds a maximum fragrance
load of 1/2 weight oz per lb.
Be sure to ALWAYS use Non-Polar fragrances with a flash point of 170* or above
in gel candles. To test your fragrances for polarity, please follow the
instructions found on this page: http://www.gelcandlemaking.com/section4.html
Uses: Container Candles
Fragrance Load: Up to 3% Non Polar fragrance with a flash point over
170*. Our Gel Aromas™ Fragrance Oils are guaranteed gel safe. Most standard fragrance
oils are NOT safe in gel!
Wick Suggestions: Gelwix™, Zinc
Wax Type: Gel
Additive Suggestion: None
Instructions for use:
Heat gel on
direct heat (A Presto Kitchen Kettle works excellent for gel waxes) to 200*.
Once wax reaches desired temp, add your dye (liquid dyes work best in gel
waxes), blend well then add fragrance and again blend well. If you desire
bubbles in your gel, pour as soon as the fragrances are well blended. If you
desire no bubbles, be sure to keep the gel heating until they are gone.
For testing purposes, we offer for sale, 10 pound slabs or bags of wax.
*We can only offer recommendations as to what wax will perhaps work best for you but we cannot guarantee any certain wax to work best in any application because of the many variables involved. The only way to determine the appropriate wax selection is by experimentation. Test burning will be necessary to determine the best wax for your candles!
